Officers Fired Upon In Fatal Los Angeles Area Shooting

A shooting in suburban Los Angeles left one civilian dead and three wounded as officers exchanged fire with an armed individual on Tuesday afternoon, according to authorities.

” as they responded to reports of gunfire around 2 p.m. local time, according to Chief of Police Steve Hunt.

Multiple officers fired at the alleged shooter, Hunt said. No officers were injured.

One person died after being transported to a hospital and two others were in critical condition. A fourth person was “down,”

“We do not have the suspect accounted for,” Hunt said in a press conference, adding that the suspected shooter is a woman “armed with an assault rifle, semi-auto or rapid fire type weapon.” It’s possible that there’s also a male suspect, he said. 

A nearby middle school was on lockdown, according to KABC, while

were “impacted,” according to the LA County Registrar. The Registrar urged voters to find alternate locations to cast ballots.
